The topic of the minority government and the coalition of the willing will be commented on by political analyst Georgi Harizanov and political analyst Prof. Svetoslav Malinov. According to them, the partnership between Borisov and Peevski is lasting, and “We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria“ will maintain their coalition interaction.
“The minority is actually a majority that is growing, because a minority government may have been a valid formula at the beginning, when this government was formed in view of the fact that GERB, as the first political force, does not have its own majority”, commented Georgi Harizanov, a political analyst.
”This week, Boyko Borisov himself, as they say, directly announced that he is counting on Peevski's support not only for this vote of no confidence, but in principle. In the same sentence, he said that he does not rely on PP-DB, which is not big news," said Svetoslav Malinov, a political scientist.
According to Malinov, Borisov and Peevski are a stable couple in Bulgarian politics.
„Borisov does not lack the courage to call for early elections when he is confident that this will be in his and the party's interest”, said Harizanov.
„Peevski states that if it depends on him, the government deserves to stay for 4 years”, added Malinov.
When asked whether it is possible for supporters of „We continue the change”, who want to overthrow the government and the three formations, not only to vote in parliament against the government of Rosen Zhelyazkov, but also to unite in the square, Svetoslav Malinov commented that at the moment it is not wise to go to such an vote.
As for whether they believe that the DB and the PP have a future in a coalition relationship or are currently staying together so as not to cause reputational damage to each other, the political analyst is of the opinion that "they were brought together by misfortune".
"What I can tell you is that the PP and the DB will stay together", the professor commented.
