"The whole thing is in connection with an investigation into the contract with "Botash". My opinion is that this is a pure example of political persecution. As I have said many times, the contract was signed several years ago, it has been discussed dozens of times in a parliamentary committee, parliamentary hearings, testimonies in the National Agency for National Security, etc. and suddenly it becomes urgent to search the home of a person who, a few weeks ago, in connection with the constant, already 2-year-long accusations in the media by political figures, I entered the Ministry of Energy and "Bulgargaz" with 7-8-10 questions in each institution. The deadline for a response expired without receiving an answer to these questions and literally a week later, the KPKONPI, the prosecutor's office and I don't know who else are in my home looking for information, after I am looking for it from them," Hristov told BNT.
He again said that he has no concerns about the contract with "Botas" and if used properly, it is strategically important and can be profitable and provide energy security not only for Bulgaria, but also for the entire region.
