This is the beginning of a resistance against the creeping dictatorship. We are witnesses to a developing special political operation by the ruling party to crush the opposition. And this is with a long-term goal. It is not something that can be decided today or tomorrow. This was stated in the studio of “Wake up” on "Nova TV" by the co-chairman of “Democratic Bulgaria“ Atanas Atanasov, who attended the protest in defense of the detained mayor of Varna, Blagomir Kotsev, which was held in front of the Courthouse in Sofia and was under the slogan “You don't have handcuffs for everyone”.
The court left Blagomir Kotsev in custody, protests were organized in Sofia and Varna (OBZOR)
He explained that the reason for the attack against "us was a round table that we organized by "Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria" as the beginning of a process for nominating a common candidate of the democratic forces for the presidential elections". "This triggered the attack against us. Because the ruling party was worried that the democratic forces were consolidating and could be the main alternative in the presidential elections. So we have a purely political battle with unauthorized means", he was categorical.
In his words, it is important to note that according to Article 105 of the Constitution, the Council of Ministers ensures public order and security in the country. But this is a task that is being condensed by the cabinet. Because there is a "parallel center of power that manages these processes in the field of security". "And this parallel center of power is headed by representatives of GERB and "DPS-New Beginning". The security sector has been usurped in a direct sense," he was categorical.
Atanasov emphasized that his party's idea of closing the Anti-Corruption Commission "will not expect support from the ruling party, because they have now caught this bat and intend to unleash it". "We will submit a bill and fight publicly, including on the streets. We will fight against this creeping dictatorship that is being imposed".

He also commented on the retracted testimony of the former deputy mayor of Varna Dian Ivanov, who stated that "his testimony was given under pressure from the CPC". Atanasov again stated that the case against Blagomir Kotsev was politically organized as an element of this special political operation to crush the opposition and usurp the repressive vastness.
Regarding the recordings publicly distributed by a person presenting himself as a "awake citizen", Atanasov stated: "Public opinion cannot be manipulated through such tools. I suspect that this "awake citizen" walks around the parliament from time to time". I won't comment further, but it's about a deputy.
