The Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC) is stepping up its activity and expanding the scope of inspections in a number of sectors, including fuels and key business deals approved in the past. The institution is noting a significant increase in public trust, having received 121 signals from citizens in just two months - from the beginning of May to the end of June. Some of them are even related to topics outside its powers, such as property disputes, said the chairman of the commission, Rosen Karadimov, on BNT.
"My first task was to make the CPC socially acceptable," emphasized Karadimov and recalled that for this purpose a Public Council was established within the institution with the participation of trade union and employer organizations, news.bg specified.
Karadimov confirmed that the commission has issued an official decision accusing "Lukoil Bulgaria" of distorting the gasoline and diesel market. According to him, the statutory deadline for appealing the decision in court is currently running. The chairman of the CPC also recalled the pending case, filed before his term, in which "Lukoil" was fined 62 million leva. for abuse of dominant position.
In addition to the fuel cases, the CPC also draws attention to a number of business transactions from the past, which, according to Karadimov, may have created the prerequisites for the formation of a dominant position in certain markets. He specified that the institution is already analyzing such cases, and the results of the inspections will show in practice what the real powers of the commission are.
"There will be inspections and actions where necessary - and there will be no compromises", the chairman of the CPC was categorical.
