Statistics from last weekend show that 151 violators were identified on the motorways, and for this weekend there are 91. Preventive activities are working. This was explained by Chief Commissioner Zahari Vaskov, Director of the “National Police“ Directorate General, regarding the results of road safety measures.
187 new speed cameras with different speed limits for cars and trucks have been purchased, and they have been distributed to all regional directorates.
Commissioner Maria Boteva from the “Traffic Police“ Department of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicated that joint activities with the toll administration continue, and this happens without unnecessarily burdening the resources of both institutions.
From the beginning of the year to July 21, 4,548,958 inspections have been carried out on the territory of the country, Boteva explained. For this period, the number of issued penalty documents is more than 2,124,000. The issued electronic speeding tickets are 938,989.
Boteva emphasized that for driving in the forced stop lane, in addition to a fine, control points and driver's license are envisaged.
Oleg Asenov, director of the "National Toll Administration", indicated that the system generates more than 7 million crossings on a daily basis. Each of them, if it violates the law, will be referred to the relevant regional directorate of the Ministry of Interior, he pointed out.
Assenov explained that they have 3D scanners that show all deviations from the standard dimensions and silhouette of the vehicle. In case of violations - sanctions follow.
He also said that each evidentiary record of a violation includes three main elements - a photo of the front license plate of the car, the rear license plate and a panoramic photo of the situation in which it is moving. And he was categorical that the photo cannot be manipulated.
