Friends and relatives will be able to say goodbye to Todor Slavkov tomorrow, July 24th, from 10:00 a.m. in the ritual hall of the "Mira" funeral complex in Sofia. The ceremony will take place exactly three days after the death of the 54-year-old grandson of former communist leader Todor Zhivkov.
Todor Slavkov, known in society as "Little Toshko", died on July 21 in the village of Asen, Pavel Banya municipality, after shooting himself with a .22 caliber revolver he legally owned. The forensic medical examination confirmed that the death occurred as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot.
The choice of date for the memorial service takes on special significance in the context of the family history. Todor Slavkov passed away on July 21 - the same date on which his mother Lyudmila Zhivkova died 44 years ago in the state villa in Boyana. He was only 10 years old at the time. It is a mysterious coincidence that on July 21, four years ago, his uncle Vladimir Zhivkov also died.
Todor Slavkov spent the last two weeks of his life in seclusion on the personal property of businessman Hristo Krusharski, owner of "Lokomotiv" (Plovdiv), in the village of Asen near Pavel Banya. Initially, it was reported that it was a guest house, but later it became clear that this was the private property of the football boss.
The Stara Zagora District Prosecutor's Office has opened pre-trial proceedings for incitement to suicide in the case. This is a standard procedure that is applied in all cases of suicide, the prosecutor's office explained.
The incident was reported on Monday, July 21, at 4:49 p.m. on the emergency number 112. Police and medical teams immediately arrived on the scene to conduct an inspection.
