On Sunday - July 27, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., the traffic of heavy goods vehicles over 12 tons on the Trakia highway in the section from Stara Zagora to Sofia in the lane in the direction of Sofia will be limited, BGNES reports.
The measure is being taken on a pilot basis given the very intense traffic at the end of the week in the direction from the sea to Sofia, in connection with the summer tourist season. It aims to ease the travel of passenger cars and increase traffic safety for everyone. The introduction of the temporary traffic organization is expected to limit the prerequisites for serious accidents, announced the RIA.
During the ban, motor vehicles over 12 tons, including trailers and semi-trailers, can use the following possible detour routes:
For travelers from Burgas to Sofia - AM „Trakia“ to the „Stara Zagora“ at km 208 of AM „Trakia“, on road I-5 to the connection with road I-6 (Podbalkanski pat);
For travelers from the „Kapitan Andreevo“ border checkpoint in the direction of Burgas - AM „Maritsa“ to the „Dimitrovgrad“ at km 35+888 on the I-5 road to the "Stara Zagora" border crossing; at km 208+181 on the "Trakia" motorway; – Burgas;
For travelers from the "Kapitan Andreevo" border crossing for the direction of Sofia - "Maritsa" motorway to the "Dimitrovgrad" border crossing at km 35+888 on the I-5 road to the connection with the I-6 road;
For travelers from the "Kapitan Andreevo" border crossing for the direction of Plovdiv and Pazardzhik - "Maritsa" motorway to the road connection of "Maritsa" motorway with "Trakia" motorway; at km 168+215 – on the "Trakia" highway in the direction of Burgas to the "Chirpan" highway at km 174+349 on road III-664, road II-66 Chirpan – Popovitsa, road I-8 Popovitsa – Plovdiv – Pazardzhik;
For travelers from the city of Pazardzhik and the city of Plovdiv in the direction of the city of Sofia – the city of Pazardzhik on road I-8 to the city of Plovdiv – road II-64 Plovdiv – Karlovo - road I-6.
During the temporary ban, drivers may use other national roads as detour routes, while respecting the permanent traffic organization in force for them.
The introduction of the measure has been coordinated with the Ministry of Interior, and at their discretion, additional actions may be taken to facilitate traffic and increase the permeability of vehicles.
