There is a lot of criticism of both laws – on the introduction of the euro and on supply chains. We will see the result of these measures in at least 1-2 months.
This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Lidiya Shuleva, former Deputy Prime Minister, as well as former Minister of Economy and Labor and Social Policy.
There are concerns that the freezing of prices in advance has led to an increase in some prices. The growth in consumption is partly among the reasons for this increase, she added.
Shuleva reports "a very strong offensive against the adoption of the euro with the main theme of price increases, completely unjustified":
"For months we have been witnessing a hoax that the adoption of the euro will lead to an increase in prices. And it is normal for this to happen, because the markets are sensitive. The opponents of the euro used all kinds of channels to hammer this into people's heads."
There is no clear definition of what an unjustified price increase means, believes Lidiya Shuleva.
In her words, the government and regulators must show with their actions that they care about calming the market and preventing speculative practices, and not for the two laws to become a "bat aimed at certain economic agents".
The former deputy prime minister called on us not to pre-doom the idea of the so-called state, or people's, stores to fail.
"The fact that there will be stores for the people with cheap prices is wonderful. Let there be! We have to see to what extent this idea will be implemented. This is undoubtedly protectionism. These 10% cannot cover all costs. Let's see how many such stores there will be, what goods they will have and who they will reach."
The euro cannot be blamed for everything that is happening in the country. There are objective factors for the state of the budget and its implementation, stressed Shuleva. Among the main factors, she pointed out large investment projects and the increase in salaries in the budget sphere.
