In many European countries, after they get a license, young drivers have certain restrictions. Among them is the impossibility of driving powerful cars for the first 2 or three years, for example up to 90 horsepower.
This was reminded to BNR-Radio Sofia by Vladimir Todorov - chairman of the Bulgarian Association of Accident Victims, in connection with the latest serious road accident in Sofia with a human victim on a bus and several injured.
The car driven by the 21-year-old young man has specifications of over 560 horsepower.
"Such power is extremely high for an inexperienced young man who has most likely driven no more than 150-200 km in a driving school. The result is this tragic accident.
Imagine what would have happened if this had happened not at night, but during rush hour, with a bus full of people!
It would be interesting for the traffic police to check how this driver's course was conducted at the relevant school - how, where and how much he drove."
According to Todorov, under the new legal rules, this young man from the "Faculty" will serve between 10 and 20 years in prison.
The man who caused the accident by crashing into a night bus without stopping had only 2 weeks of driving experience, but had 6 violations.
Among those responsible for such cases, Vladimir Todorov also pointed out the parents of young people who give them gifts such as silicone breasts and powerful cars.
"This is a bad service. This could backfire on them."
