Doctors in “Pirogov” continue the fight for the life of 4-year-old Martin, who was swept away by an ATV in “Sunny Beach”. After 10 days in a coma and hard work by doctors in Burgas, yesterday the child was transported to Sofia by medical helicopter. The little patient was airlifted to the site of UMBAL “St. Ekaterina“, and from there - by ambulance to “Pirogov”, where he was admitted to the Children's Resuscitation Department of the emergency hospital.
“A scan was performed, which confirms that the leading cause is a severe craniocerebral trauma. More tests are pending. We are following an algorithm. His condition corresponds to this diagnosis - he is in a coma. He is not in contact, does not make sounds. We are following the conservative treatment plan. We are doing everything we can, but no one can give a prognosis”, said Dr. Hristo Psederski.
The child is breathing on his own, he did not have to be intubated.
After the incident, Martin's mother - 35-year-old Hristina, fell into brain death, and her vital signs are maintained artificially.
