Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen will visit today the largest state-owned military enterprise in the country - – “Vazovski mashinostroitelni zavodi“ EAD in Sopot, the press service of the Council of Ministers announced, BTA reported.
The two will hold a meeting to discuss issues related to European security and defense. Then, Zhelyazkov and Ursula von der Leyen will tour the plant and get acquainted with its capabilities.
At the end of their visit, Prime Minister Zhelyazkov and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will give a short briefing to the media.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is touring the countries on the EU's eastern border - Latvia, Finland, Estonia, Poland, Lithuania, Bulgaria and Romania, the "Press and Media" Department of the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria announced. President Von der Leyen's visit will highlight the EU's support for member states facing the challenges of their common borders with Russia and Belarus, the statement said.
