Bozhidar Bozhanov: We do not see any efforts in the government to debunk myths, and they lead to doubts about the euro

"The issue is not Peevski's personality. He is not just a figure we don't like. He is a symptom of the state's inability to perform its basic functions, because it performs them in private, not in public interest," commented the co-chair of "Yes, Bulgaria"

Bozhidar Bozhanov: We do not see any efforts in the government to debunk myths, and they lead to doubts about the euro - 1

The vote of no confidence examines incidents related to the failure to prosecute and establish sufficient mechanisms to prevent corruption at the highest levels of power. This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Bozhidar Bozhanov - co-chair of "Yes, Bulgaria", part of the PP-DB coalition.

He announced the prepared vote of no confidence on the topic "The Conquered State", which will be submitted in September. Signatures are to be collected, the motives finalized and other details are to be submitted, the MP explained. According to him, the vote will be focused on the law enforcement system, not on sectoral policies.

"A conquered state is a situation in which institutions are so broken and corrupt that they no longer perform their basic functions, they do not perform what they were created for by law, by the Constitution, what their leaders were elected for. This means penetration at all levels of behind-the-scenes, shady, criminal interests. There are many examples," he noted and gave the example of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, whom he linked to Delyan Peevski.

"There are many examples. We list them in the reasons for our vote of no confidence. But there are cases related not only to Peevski. In the previous political season, we gave examples of Taki's influence. All these things will be clearly indicated with specific facts. The capture of a state by such circles - shady, even underground, and the deviation from the performance of its basic functions for private gain or for narrow political, party gain is the systemic problem, which is also at the root of the political crisis,", explained Bozhidar Bozhanov.

According to him, the opposition parties will support the vote. He believes that some of the ruling party should also think about whether to support such a vote.

"With this vote, we are not only saying that they are not doing their job, but we are also saying how to act to eliminate dependencies at the highest levels of power".

"The issue is not Peevski's personality. He is not just a figure we don't like. He is a symptom of the state's inability to perform its basic functions, because it performs them in private, not in the public interest. We see many crises. And always in these crises, when we delve a little deeper - how they came to be and why measures were not taken, we come to some kind of corrupt practice - corrupt practices that were patronized and were part of a larger scheme", commented the co-chairman of "Yes, Bulgaria".

He declared that during the new parliamentary season they will have legislative initiatives on important issues.

"During the last season, every meaningful thing proposed by the opposition was rejected", the MP also stated and listed what was proposed.

"We will continue to show an alternative way of how things can happen for the benefit of citizens, and the government will most likely continue to reject them because they are not their proposals".

Regarding our entry into the eurozone, Bozhidar Bozhanov criticized the lack of a serious online campaign, as well as one aimed at exposing the myths and fears in society, which, according to him, is perhaps one of the most important things.

"We do not see any efforts in the government to debunk the myths, and they lead to doubts about the euro," he explained.

For him, it is understandable that the president would refuse to appoint the head of DANS if he were Denyo Denev.

"The role of the president must be preserved, no matter who is president", Bozanov expressed his opinion.

According to him, publicity will not stop the appointment, but it will raise its political price.

We are steadfastly pursuing the goal of having the rule of law in Bulgaria, the MP was categorical and admitted that he still has differences with the other parties in the PP-DB:

"We have different views on different sectoral policies - this is normal and it will continue like this. But on fundamental issues for the country we have no differences and this will also continue to be the case".
