Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov met with the President of the European Council Antonio Costa, who arrived today (September 4), on a visit to Bulgaria, dariknews.bg reports.
I am glad to see how Bulgaria achieves its full potential in the European Union, Costa said. He congratulated our country on its admission to the Schengen area and the Eurozone.
Bulgaria is of fundamental importance in our efforts to support Ukraine, added the President of the European Council.
Bulgaria's place is where the National Assembly's decision is. The National Assembly decided that our country will not send military personnel to Ukraine. We will support the initiative in the maritime domain with anti-mine and auxiliary ships and in the air domain with airports and other auxiliary infrastructure. We will fulfill our commitment within the framework of the decision of the National Assembly, Zhelyazkov stated.
Kosta's visit is part of a tour of the capitals of the EU member states, with the aim of exchanging and gathering the views of the heads of state and government on current topics in the EU, the preparation for the upcoming meetings of the European Council and international summits, as well as to get acquainted with the priorities of the various countries under the Multiannual Financial Framework.
