The President of the Bulgarian Confederation of Trade Unions Plamen Dimitrov expressed his doubt that there is a cartel agreement in the pricing of dairy products in the country. All the union's data has been sent to the institutions and they are awaiting their reaction.
"To shed light on the cartel in our opinion in the pricing of some essential goods and services - especially dairy products. There is no other explanation for how, from the wholesale prices announced by the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets on a weekly basis, to the prices in retail chains and small neighborhood stores, the markup can be between 50-70 to 100 percent.
This was said in Ruse by the president of the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions Plamen Dimitrov and added that it is inexplicable to him why prices in retail chains are two to 12 percent higher than in retail outlets in neighborhoods.
The union has filed signals with the Commission for the Protection of Competition and the National Revenue Agency, but so far there has been no reaction from them.
"We have currently conducted the first sectoral analysis of food products with an emphasis on dairy products. We expect it to be completed by the end of the month and if this is indeed confirmed, the CPC must finally take specific decisions and sanctions. And then let's see if the state really has an iron fist, or are we just talking nonsense," commented Dimitrov and added:
"We have been observing these same retail chains in seven countries for several years. The price of cow's cheese and fresh milk in Bulgaria in the last two years has been one of the highest - higher than in Germany, the Netherlands, France. On this occasion, I claim that there is something wrong there".
