A new airline will connect Bucharest and Sofia from October 1st. This was announced by the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Romania Radko Vlaykov and the co-owner of the Romanian airline AnimaWings Cristian Pandel.
At an event organized at our embassy in Bucharest and in the presence of representatives of travel agencies from Romania and businessmen from the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and the Bulgaria-Romania Bilateral Chamber of Commerce, the two symbolically placed Sofia on the signboard with the company's destinations, alongside Stockholm, Prague, Paris, Dubai, Istanbul, Timisoara and Cluj-Napoca.
“Welcome to Terminal Bulgaria“, said the Head of the Trade and Economic Affairs Service at the Embassy of Bulgaria in Romania Ivaylo Marinov and gave them the floor.
“This is the first step in our cooperation, in bringing the two countries closer together. Many Romanians often go to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. But in recent years I have discovered Bulgaria in a different way. I discovered Sofia, I discovered the Bulgarian mountains. And I saw that I can travel there peacefully, because there are no bears like here. I can sleep peacefully in a tent. I want to say that the beauty of our neighbor impressed me deeply. I think that Romanian tourists will also be excited to discover Bulgaria in the true sense of the word, because we don't know each other very well“, shared Christian Pandel.
He expressed the opinion that business will grow and added that there are many Romanian companies that have opened representative offices in Bulgaria, probably because of the more acceptable taxes.
„Our cooperation will increase, because connectivity leads to the movement of businessmen, of tourists. The new airline also happened with the help of the Bulgarian embassy. Ambassador Vlaikov convinced us to do this, to bring Bucharest closer to Sofia“, emphasized Christian Pandel.
He informed that flights will be operated every working day, from Monday to Friday, and that the planes that will operate on this airline are brand new, manufactured in Canada.
“This is a great advantage for people who do business, for tourists, for people who work in both countries. Let's not forget that Romanians are in first place in the ranking of foreign tourists who go on vacation in Bulgaria. The opposite is also true“, said, in turn, Ambassador Radko Vlaykov.
He told BTA that preparations have already begun for organizing charter flights to Burgas and Varna in the summer and to Plovdiv in the winter.
“It is also being considered that flights in Romania itself should not be only from Bucharest, since the country is large. The idea is to distribute these charter flights very well geographically. In the winter, to use the constantly increasing interest of Romanian tourists in Bulgarian winter resorts, to organize charter flights to Plovdiv from different points in Romania, from where it is a little more convenient to go to Pamporovo and Borovets“, explained the diplomat.
In turn, the co-owner of AnimaWings told BTA that with the launch of the airline on October 1, there will be promotional prices. A tourist program is also being prepared for people over 55 who want to go on a SPA vacation in Bulgaria in the winter. One will also be developed that is aimed at cultural, including pilgrimage tourism.
