It would be difficult to determine which is the oldest village in Bulgaria. There are several such villages in our country, which can easily claim to be leaders in such a ranking. The TOP 3 include Sitovo, Stoikite, Kovachevitsa and Brashlyan. All five villages carry with them traditions from antiquity, which make them unique and very significant for the cultural heritage of Bulgaria.

1. Selo Sitovo
It is located in the Rhodopes, Plovdiv region. Near the village is the Sitovo inscription – one of the oldest known written documents in the world that remains unsolved to this day. The area around the village is rich in traces of ancient civilizations.
