Specialized construction activities and facility construction have "pushed" sector up in August on an annual basis, according to data from the National Statistical Institute.
In August 2024, the output index in the "Construction" increased by 1.7 percent compared to the previous month, preliminary and seasonally adjusted data of the NSI as of today show. The calendar-adjusted data show a 5.5 percent increase in construction output compared to the same month of 2023.
Information in NSI indicates that in August 2023 the production index in the sector increased by 0.3 percent compared to the previous month, and on an annual basis there was a decrease of 0.5 percent in construction output compared with the same month of 2022.
Monthly Changes
In August 2024, an increase compared to the previous month was reported by 2.6 percent in specialized construction activities, by 2.4 percent in the construction of facilities and by 0.4 percent in the production of building construction.< /p>
In August 2023, the index was above the previous month's level, with building construction up 0.5 percent and civil/engineering output unchanged.
Annual changes
In August 2024, compared to the same month of 2023, an increase of 11.8 percent was recorded in production in specialized construction activities and by 7.9 percent in the construction of facilities. A decrease of 1.1 percent was recorded in the production of building construction.
The decline in the calendar-adjusted index of construction output on an annual basis in August 2023 was determined by the negative pace in civil/engineering construction with a recorded decrease of 3.6 percent, while in building construction there was an increase of 1 .9 percent, a reference in national statistics shows.
