Days before the official opening of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the Framework Convention on United Nations on Climate Change (COP29) remote works have been completed on the main venue where the events will be held, namely the Olympic Stadium in Baku.
To date, 67,000 people have registered to attend the COP29 climate conference in Baku. 3,500 media representatives have been accredited to cover the event, many of whom are already in Azerbaijan.
Discussions will take place in 29 meeting rooms: “There have already been active discussions at the site since 5 November in relation to COP29.“
58 local and foreign companies have installed pavilions in the Green Zone, and the official opening ceremony of COP29 will take place on November 11, where about 40 minutes will be dedicated to Azerbaijani culture: “The Leaders Summit will be held on November 12-13.
The program of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be held on November 11-22 in Baku, has been published on the official website of the conference. It includes topics on climate finance, adaptation, mitigation and technology, as well as a range of other issues.
Although the planning of official talks in the Blue Zone is governed by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the zone also has several national pavilions presenting their events and programs to accredited participants. During the thematic days from November 13 to 22, the Azerbaijan Pavilion will host numerous sessions led by key stakeholders from the public and private sectors, including finance, energy, science, human capital and transport.
Visitors to the Green Zone will be able to gain experience by participating in panel discussions and workshops according to each thematic day. Official partners of COP29 effectively use this opportunity in the Green Zone to promote climate discussions and stimulate action among stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.
