Customs officers in Kapitan Andreevo seized 307 ancient coins and 11 ancient objects. They were discovered during an inspection of a truck entering the country from Turkey, the Customs Agency reported.
The cargo train consisting of a tractor and a semi-trailer with a foreign registration arrives at the checkpoint on September 19, 2025 at noon. The driver - a Turkish citizen - presented documents stating that he was transporting goods from Turkey to Germany.
After a risk analysis, the vehicle was selected for a thorough customs inspection. During the control actions, customs inspectors discovered a box of vegetables in the right cupboard of the semi-trailer, and under them two polyethylene packages with antique items.
307 coins and 11 objects were discovered, which, according to the initial expert report, are cultural values according to Art. 7, para. 1 of the Cultural Heritage Act. According to the metal, they are divided into silver, bronze and lead.
The smuggled coins and objects have been seized and will be handed over for expert examination. Work on the case continues. An act under the Customs Act has been drawn up against the driver of the truck.
