The defendants for the atrocities against animals, who filmed and distributed scandalous videos, are already in prison. The investigation against Gabriela Sashova and Krasimir Georgiev, which lasted over 8 months, has ended, bTV reported.
After the Pernik District Prosecutor's Office filed the indictment in court, the defendants were transferred behind bars.
The couple faces three charges - for criminal conspiracy, for causing death and cruel treatment of animals, and for creating pornographic content.
The two filmed sadistic videos of a pornographic nature, torturing and killing small vertebrates.
And the clips were sold on the Internet abroad, the prosecutor's office said. They are also being investigated separately for money laundering.
"For the crime of "cruelty to animals", there are 19 acts, and the acts of creating pornographic content are a total of 15", commented Chief Inspector Trifon Boychev, Head of the "Crimes against the Environment and Wildlife" sector at the General Directorate of the National Police.
"One of the accused did not give explanations. He exercised his right not to give any, and the other accused put forward a defensive version that they did this because they were forced by an unidentified person in the case," commented Albena Stoilova, spokesperson for the Pernik District Prosecutor's Office.
