Over 1 kg of cocaine and over 5.7 kg of marijuana were found by customs officers at the Ruse Customs Department during an inspection of a truck transporting fruits. The drugs were hidden in various cavities in the driver's cabin.
At around 5:00 p.m. on April 14, 2026, at Danube Bridge 2 Vidin - Calafat, customs officers selected for inspection a truck with Turkish license plates, traveling from the Netherlands to Turkey.
According to the documents presented, the transported goods were fruits - avocados and mangoes. During the physical inspection in the cab of the tractor - in a natural cavity - 11 packages of marijuana were found, with a total weight of 5,763.81 grams, and 1 package weighing 1,074.38 grams, containing a white powdery substance - cocaine.
Pre-trial proceedings were initiated under Art. 242, para. 2 of the Criminal Code based on the inventory of the Ruse Customs Department under the leadership of the Vidin District Prosecutor's Office. By a prosecutor's decree, the citizen of Turkey E.B. was brought in as a defendant for transporting high-risk narcotics across the country's border without proper permission.
The person was detained for a period of up to 72 hours. A request for a preventive measure of "detention in custody" against him is to be filed with the court. The case continues under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office - Vidin.
