A police officer will be investigated in connection with the death of a 32-year-old man from Yambol, died under unclear circumstances in the detention facility of the district administration.
Disciplinary proceedings against the police officer were ordered by the director of the Yambol police, senior commissioner Ivan Rusev.
At the same time, verification of the data published in the media by relatives of the deceased will begin, the regional directorate informed.
The body of 32-year-old Ivan Dimitrov was discovered early Saturday morning, hours after the man was arrested for drug possession.
An autopsy has been performed and the forensic medical examination is expected to be ready within days. If necessary, a repeat autopsy will be performed, the prosecutor's office announced.
His relatives claim that it was police violence that resulted in the death and are demanding the intervention of the interior minister.
The District Prosecutor's Office in Yambol has not yet brought charges, pre-trial proceedings have been initiated under Art. 115 for causing death, but the suicide version is not excluded.
