Five were detained in two raids by forensic experts and investigating police officers from the Sofia Directorate for “Prostitution“. This was announced by the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs.
After receiving operational information about pimping and trafficking in prostitutes, on May 13, in an apartment in the “Lyulin“ residential area, law enforcement officers detained a 35-year-old man, whom they were investigating for pimping, and two women - aged 20 and 36 - for prostitution.
Mobile phones, several doses of marijuana and other items related to their criminal activity were seized. During the investigation, it was found that the sex services were offered through paid love sites.
The detainee has a criminal record, with multiple drug records, driving after using drugs, causing moderate and minor bodily harm for hooligan motives, and has been convicted. The two women are also known to the Ministry of Interior - the 36-year-old - for theft and economic crime, and the 20-year-old - for drugs and theft.
The three were detained with a police measure for up to 24 hours. Pre-trial proceedings are underway. The materials on the case have been reported to the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office. Work continues to prove the criminal activity of the detainees.
Only a few days ago, forensic experts from the State Department of Internal Affairs and their colleagues from the "Investigation" department conducted a specialized police operation along the same lines in the residential area of “Studentski grad“, where a 25-year-old man was detained for pimping and a 25-year-old woman for prostitution. During the investigation, officers found that the man persuaded women to prostitute themselves and threatened and physically abused them when they refused. It also became clear that he was carrying out his criminal activity in another large city in the country.
The detainee is known for robbery, theft, unlawful seizure of a car and destruction and damage to property, convicted. Pre-trial proceedings are underway in the case.
