Although he introduced himself and asked what was happening, the 28-year-old man did not answer anything and punched him twice in the face. The defendant also attacked the other police officers, and his resistance required the handcuffing. The court found the defendant guilty of causing minor bodily harm to a person from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, consisting of lacerations and bruises on the head, as well as a chest injury.

The 28-year-old man has a previous criminal record. The Varna District Court sentenced him to 2 years and 6 months in prison, to be served under an initial strict regime. The specific act was committed during the probationary period of a previous sentence, which is why the court also enforced the sentence of 8 months imprisonment imposed on him. He was also sentenced to pay the civil plaintiff compensation for the non-pecuniary damages suffered by him in the amount of 1,500 leva, the state fee on the accepted civil claim and the costs incurred in the case.
