Fake profiles promise work on a famous video distribution site with a daily income of up to 800 leva, reports bTV.
„Welcome to the part-time recruitment group... We pay only by bank transfer. No scams!“
Nelly received this message two weeks ago. She is one of the 900 invited to work on the video sharing platform. She has to like various videos for a fee.
„To like videos of famous influencers, to send screenshots to a certain Mirela, which is not her real name, as proof that the videos have been watched and the influencers have been followed. I solved three tasks and then they asked me for a bank account. I just gave my account number, I was transferred 10 leva and immediately after that they gave me another 20 tasks“, says a woman who fell victim to the scam.
The next day she receives another message, but from another messaging app. They promise her up to 800 leva per day, but there is a condition.
“This clip is of a special influencer and they give a table and you choose whether 50, 100 or 10,000 leva. If you give 50 leva, you get 65 leva. For 10,000 leva, it's 5,000 leva," the woman also says.
Although she stops, a large part of the people in the group send payment slips - some for over 8,000 leva.
The GDBOP explains:
Once you pay, it's almost impossible to get your money back, cyber experts say.
“First, they are quite difficult to track, it's easy to remain anonymous online. On the other hand, the platforms that use the case transfer users from one platform to another, which is easy to hide. Financial pyramids work this way“, explained Kiril Grigorov, a cybersecurity expert.
In most cases, victims of this type of fraud fall into this category at random.
