Vasil Mihaylov sought me out to give him all the usurers. He wanted to take over Pernik. I did not take money from him, so I do not owe him anything. He wanted a "peace fee" from people in the city. I did not carry out tasks assigned by him. This was told by Pavel Pavlov in the studio of "Hello, Bulgaria". He is the man who filed a report of an assault against Vasil Mihaylov before the prosecutor's son disappeared without a trace more than two months ago.
Pavel said that he was threatened after getting into the car. "I was told to go get 8,000 leva from a third party to be given to Mihaylov. I had agreed because there were threats to my family. However, I later gave up. I did not know the person from whom I was supposed to take money. I have lived in England for 9 years. I was never a friend of Vasil, but we knew each other. I repeatedly asked to get out, but I was not allowed. I saw weapons and knives in his car. There was a man with a knife behind me the whole time," the man said.
We recall that since the beginning of June, the police have been on the move in an attempt to find the prosecutor's son Vasil Mihaylov, who is missing. The 21-year-old man disappeared after his fellow citizen filed a report against him for assault and extortion. After he was declared a national wanted man, Mihaylov made a surprising statement via video online.
In a long monologue, he explained his version of the events that led to his national wanted man, shedding light on the latest case in which he was involved. The video was published on June 17 on a YouTube channel called “Ivan Hristov”, created the day before.
According to the Ministry of Interior, on the evening of June 12, Mihaylov and another 22-year-old man beat and threatened to kill a 31-year-old fellow citizen (editor's note: Pavel Pavlov). According to investigators, however, the victim was not a random person. He is known in the city as a person who deals with loan sharks and, according to initial data, owed money to Vasil. That is why he was taken to a wooded area above the city, where, according to him, he was beaten, but managed to escape and himself reported to 112.
In the aforementioned video statement, Mihaylov commented on the “incident in the wooded area” with Pavel. The man was a bartender in one of the busiest establishments in the city. The prosecutor's son does not deny that he owed him money. "I won't say why I gave it to him, but I was asked to do so - probably because of things he consumes and the whole of Pernik knows about. We're talking about drugs, we're talking about a boy who is a gambler. He has other bad habits. That's not important, it doesn't give me the right to hit him," he says.
In his story, he also explains about Pavel's "broken ribs" and "bruises on his face." He claims that three days before meeting him, he went to his house because his husband wanted more money: "He got in my car and asked me for 2,000 leva. This was the next money. This 2,000 leva was to settle his score with some guys who beat him up, there are many witnesses and a video. The situation took place in front of a restaurant. I won't mention the boys' names.
According to Mihaylov, it was then that Pavel showed him that he had "broken ribs," which were, however, only discovered three days after the incident in the forest. "These broken ribs, however, turn out to be mine. That's what the media and law enforcement say. I guess he didn't say that himself," adds the prosecutor's son.
According to NOVA, since the beginning of October, when Mihaylov left the pretrial detention center, he has only maintained contact with his mother and sister, and no one in the city knows what he supports himself with or how he lives.
In early October 2024, Vasil Mihaylov returned to Pernik after the court acquitted him on the charge of threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend. A few months later, he received a 4-year sentence at first instance for causing moderate and severe bodily harm to nearly ten people from the city. However, the magistrates released him on the lightest measure of detention - a recognizance. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated, and the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office is leading the investigation.
