The four young men accused of the attack on the director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Ruse remain permanently in custody. This was decided yesterday by the District Court in the city. Among those detained is a 15-year-old minor, for whom such a measure is imposed only in exceptional cases. While their parents deny guilt, one of the accused claims that they were provoked, Nova TV reports.
The District Court in Ruse imposed the most severe measure of detention "detention in custody" on all four accused of the beating of Senior Commissioner Nikolay Kozhuharov. According to the magistrates, there is sufficient evidence of this stage of the investigation. As reasons for its decision, the court pointed out that the young men demonstrated arrogant behavior and lack of respect after they realized that the police director was standing against them.
It was emphasized that the attack was carried out in a public place, in front of numerous witnesses, including children. The report makes it clear that in addition to Commissioner Kozhuharov's family, the incident was also witnessed by his neighbor Georgi Dimitrov, his child and the policeman's wife.
In front of the media in the courtroom, one of the defendants, Kiril Gochev, presented a different version of what happened. He claims that he was driving at 40 km/h, but his car was noisier. According to him, the police chief's neighbor got scared, jumped out in front of the car and started cursing them. “I say that they don't deal with my problems, we apologize, and one of the people starts hitting me through the window of the car. And from there the fight started“, said Gochev.
