The Burgas District Prosecutor's Office has accused 18-year-old Nikola Burgazliev of causing death and bodily harm to several people after using drugs, bTV reported.
The student was brought under escort from the arrest and gave new testimony. According to the defense, the serious accusation is not final and may change after the results of the technical condition of the ATV are released.
After a two-hour meeting with the prosecutor, Burgazliev said only one word on the way out - – „sorry“.
„He is extremely sorry that this happened and wants to assure his relatives that he did not want this to happen. If he could turn back time, he would,“ said lawyer Galina Koleva, Burgazliev's defense attorney.
Burgazliev received the most serious accusation today, when the relatives of 35-year-old Hristina said goodbye to her in her native village in Plovdiv region. The young man explained to the prosecutor that he ran over people because the ATV he rented was uncontrollable.
In a first television interview, Burgazliev's parents, who are police officers, said that they doubt the investigation.
„We have huge doubts about these expert reports. "High-ranking officials from the justice system are giving instructions and putting pressure on magistrates with the clear goal of making our son a scapegoat," said Georgi Burgazliev, the young man's father.
The defense wants Nikola's blood sample to be tested in another laboratory after the first one showed cannabis.
„He has never used marijuana or cigarettes. Then how do you explain it? This is complete madness, we cannot explain it," the father said.
„He said „Trust me, I would not have given blood if I had ever used marijuana“, explained attorney Galina Koleva.
„Nikola is doomed, he is even being directly sentenced by the prosecutor's office. We want an objective process and the truth to come out“, said Nikola's mother, Rosi Raleva.
The conclusions of the experts on the ATV are expected within days. The deadline for requesting a repeat blood sample is a week.
