He is one of the most famous American rappers. Additionally, he is a music producer, songwriter and actor. However, here are a few facts about his life that you might not know:
- The rapper's real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III
- He was born on October 17, 1972 in St. Joseph, Missouri, USA. When he was 12, he and his mother moved permanently to Detroit, Michigan.
- A fan of rap since childhood, Eminem started performing it at the age of 14. So he left school before finishing high school and concentrated on his music.
- As a teenager, he was often ridiculed by others in the ghetto. He fell into a coma for 9 days after a fight with some boys.
- From his album “The Marshall Mathers LP“ selling nearly two million copies in its first week alone, becoming the fastest-selling album of all time.
- Marshall's personal life made headlines in June 1999, less than a week after the debut of his platinum-selling “Marshall Mathers LP”, when he was arrested after an altercation outside Detroit at a nightclub. In August 2000, judges recommended that Eminem be sentenced on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. In 2001, the music artist pleaded guilty to the charge of carrying a concealed weapon and after a retrial, an agreement was reached to be released by paying the crime fee.
- In September 1999, Eminem's mother filed a $10,000,000 lawsuit against her son. She is suing her son for defaming her on the “Slim Shady LP”.
- Officially, Marshall is the father of 3 children: Haley Jade Mathers – Eminem's daughter by his ex-wife Kimberly Scott.
