British rock band Radiohead will perform their first concerts in seven years at the end of the year. According to a statement on the band's website, the first performances will take place at the 15,000-seat Movistar Arena in Madrid from November 4 to 8.
The band will then play four more concerts in Bologna (Unipol Arena), London (The O2) and Copenhagen (Royal Arena). The final series of performances will take place in Berlin from December 8 to 12 at the 17,000-seat Uber Arena.
Radiohead's last concerts to date were in 2018 as part of the tour following their ninth album “A Moon Shaped Pool“. After that, all members of the band have turned to solo careers. At the same time, vocalist Thom Yorke and guitarist Jonny Greenwood formed a new band, The Smile, which has released three albums as of 2022.
The band Radiohead was founded in 1985 by students from the prestigious Abingdon private school in the English county of Oxfordshire - Thom Yorke, brothers Jonny and Colin Greenwood, Ed O'Brien and Phil Selway. The band's style is traditionally defined as alternative rock, although at different stages its sound has varied from Britpop to art rock and electronic music.
Radiohead's albums have sold a total of over 30 million copies, the most famous of which are The Bends, OK Computer and Kid A, released between 1995 and 2000. In 2005, the American magazine Rolling Stone placed the band in 73rd place on its list of the greatest musicians of all time. Radiohead have won the prestigious Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album three times.
