The death mask of musician Vladimir Vysotsky will be auctioned in Monaco, TASS reports.
The bronze mask, cast in 1980 under the supervision of the singer's wife, actress Marina Vladi, is being auctioned. The mask is engraved with the initials of Vysotsky's widow and the year it was created. The original plaster mask was created by Soviet sculptor Yuri Vasiliev, who also made a cast of the artist's left hand.
The auction is scheduled for October 21. Representatives of Hermitage Fine Art have estimated the lot at 120,000 euros.
“This mask is the first of three known bronze masks cast from an original plaster mold made shortly after Vysotsky's death“, the auction announcement says.
