The art gallery “Hauser and Wirth“, whose director is Princess Eugenie, daughter of Andrew, brother of King Charles III, has been accused of violating sanctions against Russia, The Times reports.

The publication notes that the gallery supplied luxury goods to individuals linked to Russia between April and December 2022.

According to the publication, the museum donated the painting “Escape from Humanity“ by American artist George Condo of Alexander Popov, who, together with his wife, runs the non-governmental organization “Popov Art Foundation“.

The charge was brought after an investigation by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. It is believed to be the first investigation under the law prohibiting the supply of luxury goods to Russia, the publication notes.

In September, it was reported that prosecutors in the German city of Schwerin had opened an investigation into a German farmer who received a package from Russia containing soap, a wooden figurine and a CD. The investigation revealed that all three items were on the EU sanctions list.
