Surrey police will contact the US Federal Bureau of Investigation for information about the possible involvement of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, brother of King Charles III, in child abuse parties.
The request comes after files linked to the case of American financier Jeffrey Epstein were released, alleging crimes committed in England involving Andrew, The Times reported.
„We have found no evidence that allegations of these crimes were passed on to Surrey police. "We will therefore seek access to third-party agencies to obtain censored information," the newspaper quoted British police as saying.
In 2019, Prince Andrew was forced to step back from his official royal duties due to the Epstein scandal. This happened after American Virginia Giuffre brought charges against him, claiming that he was among several men she was forced to have sex with when she was 17. In 2022, by decision of Queen Elizabeth II, the prince was stripped of his honorary military ranks and his role as patron of several public organizations.
Epstein was arrested again by New York State law enforcement on July 6, 2019. Prosecutors said they had evidence that between 2002 and 2005, he organized visits to his Manhattan home for dozens of underage girls, the youngest of whom was 14 years old. Epstein's circle of friends and acquaintances included a large number of current and former officials not only from the United States, but also from many other countries (including former heads of state), prominent entrepreneurs and celebrities from show business. The criminal prosecution of the financier in the United States was discontinued after his suicide in his prison cell on August 10, 2019.
