He came from a respected family. He was elected senator in the Roman Empire at a fairly young age. Despite the high position he held, the young Saint Marin became a Christian.
Malicious people betrayed that Saint Marin did not worship idols. Faced with a trial, the judge called on Saint Marin to offer a sacrifice to the pagan gods. He refused, because he already knew the true God. He was subjected to cruel torture, but the Almighty kept him alive. The enraged pagans demanded the most severe punishment - to be beheaded. The sentence was carried out on December 16, 283.
Pious Christians collected the relics of Saint Marin and buried them according to Christian custom.
