A man from the western US state of Washington was convicted of beating his wife and burying her alive , writes the “New York Post”, quoted by dariknews.bg.
Che Gen An, 54, was arrested in 2022. Before that, he brutally beat and stabbed his wife. The woman was able to call the police using her smartwatch before her husband tied her up with duct tape, loaded her into a car and drove her into the woods. There he buried his wife in a shallow hole and left.
The victim spent 12 hours underground, but survived and managed to get out.
Che Gen An pleaded guilty to attempted murder in March. The man's lawyer said he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and had taken "too much medication" which had affected his behaviour. At the same time, the accused himself said that “he wakes up every day with a feeling of regret and repentance”.
At the trial, the victim stated that she and her children still live in a state of constant fear. The woman also added that her husband caused her psychological and physical trauma, which she will have to put up with for the rest of her days.
The court sentenced the man to 13 years in prison and forbade him to communicate with his wife and children.
Earlier in the US, a pastor from California was arrested for hiring a hit man to kill his daughter's boyfriend. The victim suffered several injuries, but managed to get to the hospital on his own.
