An incident that ended tragically for a five-year-old boy took place on Wednesday in a forest near the Austrian city of Graz, dariknews.bg reported.
As a result of the heavy rains that fell in the area in recent days, two children were buried by a forest landslide. A second seven-year-old child was rescued and taken to hospital by medical helicopter.
The accident happened while the little ones were on a walk with their mother and two other children.
The other two children, aged seven and nine, were unharmed. An investigation into the accident was immediately launched, but according to experts, there is a direct link between the heavy rains and the tragic incident. During the rescue operation, more than 100 firefighters, rescue helicopters and a specially trained police dog worked at the scene, which provided valuable help in finding the buried children.
The police have issued a warning about possible new landslides in the area.
