State Department Spokesman on USA Matthew Miller interrupted a briefing with reporters because of a huge cockroach on the wall, writes The Hill.
The State Department chief representative was answering a reporter's question when he saw the insect on the wall and told those present about it. “Sorry to digress, but she is pretty big,” Miller noted.
In a recording of the briefing, a voiceover states that the cockroach will be destroyed when the press secretary finishes speaking. A little later, Miller admitted that he regretted his decision to tell everyone about the cockroach. “Now it will be difficult for those gathered to focus on the very important things I have to convey,” the man explained, but continued with his answer anyway.
The cockroach was eliminated after a few minutes: a clapping sound was heard in the video, followed by applause from the audience. Miller said the issue was resolved.
