Scientists went on an expedition to the mountains of Yakutia to find a unique insect - the northernmost butterfly in the world parnasius arcticus, the Arctic Apollo, reports the portal JASIA.
Researchers were able to find only a few individuals of this butterfly; the search was significantly complicated by weather conditions.
„In the mountains, the weather is good only in the morning, from 9-10 o'clock it is already cloudy and the sun rises only from time to time, and after an hour and a half it is already raining with a thunderstorm and so on until the evening. Such climatic conditions, of course, complicated our research. Therefore, there were very few butterflies in the mountains”, the portal quotes the words of Innokenty Fedorov, senior state inspector of the Momsky Nature Park, where the expedition took place.
