Isle of the Dolls is located south of Mexico City and has become a tourist attraction, but many people don't know the sinister history behind this place , NOVA reported.
The dolls on the island are said to be possessed by a girl who was found drowned many years ago on it. Local legend suggests that they move their limbs and heads.
According to legend, the island had a watchman who found the drowned girl and shortly after saw a floating doll that he believed belonged to the girl. To pay respect to his spirit, he hangs the doll on a tree.
He is then haunted by the girl's spirit and starts hanging more dolls. His relatives believed that he was guided by an unseen force as he failed to save the girl. For 50 years he collected dolls and hung them on trees until he was found dead in the same place where he found the little girl.
