Today we celebrate a strange but traditional holiday - International Bikini Day, BNR reported.
The date was not chosen by chance, as July 5 is the anniversary of the presentation of a two-piece swimsuit by French designer Louis Reard in 1946. Its name comes from the Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean, where the US conducted an atomic bomb test. The author's ambition then is to "blow up" the fashion world with its proposal.
The avant-garde swimsuit does not immediately become a hit on the market. It is ordered by the church in a number of Catholic countries such as Italy, Spain and Portugal, and the ban on wearing it was introduced not only there. But, of course, not everyone shares this attitude and before long the world becomes unimaginable without the bikini.
