The pentacle (the red star) is a symbol of the communist movement – symbolizes the five continents of the Earth. In addition, the red five-pointed star is the emblem of the Red Army (1920).

It is found on most of the flags and coats of arms of the USSR, and then entered circulation in other communist regimes as well. In the People's Republic of Bulgaria, the red pentagram has been established as a symbol of communist rule in the coat of arms of the NRB since 1948. It remained unchanged there until the collapse of communism.

The pentacle, which can be seen today in the Museum of Socialist (Totalitarian) Art, towers above the Party House – the building of the Central Committee of the BKP (today the building of the National Assembly on "Knyaz Alexander I" square.

By decision 648 of July 25, 1984, the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the BKP approved the idea of designing and remodeling the five-pointed star of the tower in the likeness of the ruby star of the Kremlin tower in Moscow. The foreign trade organization “Technoimportexport” carries out the purchase, delivery and installation of the ruby star. It is made of synthetic ruby. Its diameter is 3 meters.

Moscow's condition is that it be smaller than the Soviet one. The gold coating of the ruby star was made in the “Komuna” factory. in Sopot. 3,700 watts is the power of the lamps that illuminated the pentagram around the clock.

After November 10, 1989, the ruby five-pointed star was the subject of enormous public discontent for its presence on the BKP citadel
In the hot summer of 1990, the young man Plamen Stanchev announced that he would set himself on fire if he was not removed from the Party House.

On August 21, 1990, the main political forces in the parliament adopted a declaration to remove non-traditional political symbols from public buildings, flags and anthems.

This is how the five-pointer is dismantled. It was taken down on October 4, 1990 with the help of a helicopter and specialists from the capital company "Public Construction".

The first attempt, which started at 7 am, was unsuccessful. A few hours later, in the second attempt, it was taken down.
