On this date in 1987, the 5 billionth inhabitant of the planet was born. There are twice as many people living in the world now compared to 1960. In 2011, the number of people reached 7 billion. It is curious that humanity reached the first billion in 250,000 years, and the second billion took only 127 years. The UN predicts that in 2050 there will be about 9 billion inhabitants on the planet.

Prognostic data of the NSI on the population in our country report that in 2030 we Bulgarians are expected to be around 6.5 million, in 2045 we will melt below 6 million Bulgarians, and in 2050 we will be 5 791,137 people.

World Population Day aims to support the sustainable development of humanity in a healthy environment by considering this global goal in the context of demographic changes, crises and trends and the related protection of human rights. The main topics of this day are population migrations, overpopulation, globalism, family planning, reproductive health, population aging, etc.

This day is also celebrated as World Population Day.
