Hundreds of crocodiles crawled on the streets in northern Mexico

The reason is the heavy rains that poured over the country

Hundreds of crocodiles came out on the streets of Mexican cities, the Associated Press reported.

Since late June, local authorities estimate that at least 200 large crocodiles have been captured in towns in the northern state of Tamaulipas. They were returned to reservoirs outside populated areas.

This animal activity was caused by heavy rains that poured over Mexico along with Hurricane Beryl and the storm Alberto that preceded it. Because of the bad weather, many rivers and dams burst their banks.

At the beginning of this week, the hurricane reached the southern part of the country. “Recent rains have raised water levels in the lagoons, leading to an increase in crocodile sightings,” said Carina Lisette Saldivar, head of the Tamaulipas state environment department.

These are not the last reports of encounters with predators in the city, the department is confident - the water level in the drainage canals has only just started to drop.
