On August 12, the International Youth Day is celebrated, tvn.bg reminds.
It was announced by a resolution of the UN General Assembly on December 17, 1999 at the proposal of the World Conference of Ministers of Youth Affairs, held in Lisbon from August 8 to 12, 1998. It was celebrated for the first time on August 12, 2000.
In Bulgaria, the holiday has been celebrated since 2007. Through various social and artistic events, the day draws attention to the problems of young people, as well as to their participation in global initiatives to protect the environment, the development of their leadership skills and their involvement in causes of international importance.
