Chrysler experimented with cars powered by gas turbine engines between 1953 and 1988, with the peak being in 1963, when the company had over 50 test cars. Most of them are given to random drivers to try them for a few months, then give their opinion about them, recalls NOVA.
One of the prototypes is presented to President Adolfo Mateos, who asks if the bike can run on tequila. It turns out that the company did not test the gas turbine engines with exactly such fuel.

Chrysler's PR representative calls Huebner on the phone and asks if the bike will pass the tequila test. Huebner orders a few gallons of tequila, they do a short test in Detroit and find that there is no problem using the alcohol for fuel. The technical chief calls back to Mexico and gives approval for the test to the president.
Next is a walk around Mexico City for Mateos, with the tank filled with tequila in front of him. The press went crazy over this story, but in 1977 Chrysler's most serious gas turbine car program was shut down.
