Frenchman arrested for transporting coffins full of cocaine - 1

Dutch police officers stopped a French driver of a car carrying two coffins full of cocaine on a highway south of Rotterdam after finding his driving suspicious, DPA reported, quoted by BTA, citing a Dutch newspaper.

The man insisted that he was transporting two bodies when police stopped his car for a check on the "A29" highway late last night, but failed to provide the necessary documents.

Later, police opened the coffins at a funeral home and found sports bags containing about 250 kilograms of cocaine worth about $14 million.

According to a police spokesman, the man had traveled from France to the Netherlands, but he himself did not know his final destination. He should have received a message indicating where to go.

The driver was detained and the drugs were destroyed, DPA notes.
