Two people died near Kirovsk in the Murmansk region of Russia during the trail running race "Khibiny" due to severe weather conditions.
The mountain running race was organized by a private company, Murmansk region governor Andrei Chibis announced.
The participants in the race encountered extreme weather conditions - snow, rain and wind up to 20 m/s, the Murmansk Hydrometeorological Center reported.
Information about the two deaths was received at the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations at 04:55. on Sunday
The deceased are a woman from St. Petersburg, born in 1963, and a man from Moscow, born in 1978.
Another participant was injured and taken to hospital.
The exact cause of their death is unknown, it will be established after a forensic examination.
As reported by the regional emergency service, according to preliminary data, there were no traces of injuries on the bodies of the deceased.
