Britain's oldest World War II veteran, Donald Rose, has died at the age of 110, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
Born on Christmas Eve in 1914, Rose was thought to be the country's oldest man.
Erwan Borough Council in Ilkeston, central England, confirmed Rose's death on Friday, and council chairman James Dawson paid tribute to him as a "war hero".
He was part of the division that liberated the German concentration camp "Bergen-Belsen" in 1945.
In May, Rose was among 45 veterans honored at a tea party hosted by the Royal British Legion to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in World War II.
That same month, the mayor of Erwan awarded Rose the Order of Freedom of the Commune for his bravery during World War II.
