A 49-year-old recidivist who doused his mistress with kerosene and set her on fire in cold blood has been detained in Krasnoye Selo, St. Petersburg, reports the Telegram channel "Konkretno.ru".
According to the channel, the defendant has never worked anywhere. He was previously convicted of theft and attempted theft. The issue of initiating a criminal case is currently being resolved.
The incident occurred on the evening of July 15 in an apartment in a building located on Gatchinskoye Shosse.
The operatives who arrived at the scene found that the couple had been drinking. Then the two suddenly quarreled, and the man doused his wife with kerosene and set her on fire. The victim was hospitalized. Doctors diagnosed first- and second-degree thermal burns covering 15 percent of her body. Law enforcement officers searched the apartment and seized three gas cylinders, a lighter, and a burnt dress.
