All the missing ships in the Bermuda Triangle were struck by killer waves reaching 30 meters and capable of sinking ships in a few minutes. This was stated by oceanographer from the University of Southampton Simon Boxall on the air of the Channel 5 television channel, writes Daily Mail.

„To the south and north of it there are storms that merge. If they are amplified by storms off Florida, they could create potentially deadly killer waves, he said.

Scientists say they can reach heights of up to 100 feet (30 meters) and sink a large ship in two to three minutes.

"The larger the ship, the more damage the wave can cause," Boxall explained.

He said one such wave could be so powerful that it could literally rip a ship in half, which could explain why many sailors didn't even have time to send out a distress signal.

The Bermuda Triangle is an area in the western Atlantic Ocean between Florida, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico. It is believed that mysterious anomalies are responsible for the disappearance of planes and ships there.
